Bury Church of England High School, with its long and distinguished history, is proud to be a part of the Bishop Fraser Trust family of Schools, which provides a great opportunity to work closely with other Trust schools, sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress. Our commitment to Christian values and our motto 'Let your light shine' guide us in providing a safe and caring community where every individual can flourish.

WE ARE SEEKING A PASSIONATE CANDIDATE WHO:

•    Demonstrate flexibility, good teamwork and a commitment to the school’s value of ‘Let your light shine’.

•    Enjoy working as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff.

•    Be committed to supporting the progress and wellbeing of pupils with special needs.

•    Quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues.

•    Enthuse and motivate colleagues and students to work hard and try their best.

•    Show an understanding of special educational needs within a school setting (including autistic spectrum, learning difficulties, behavioural and emotional difficulties).

•    Demonstrate personal resilience and role model those personal qualities we wish to instill in our young people.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:

·        Deliver targeted literacy intervention sessions to small groups and individual students. Full training on our programmes will be given.

·        Assess students' literacy needs and track progress using baseline and follow-up assessments.

·        Collaborate with teaching staff to identify students requiring support and tailor interventions accordingly.

·        Adapt resources and strategies to meet the diverse literacy needs of KS3 and KS4 students.

·        Monitor and record student outcomes, providing regular feedback to the SENCo and wider pastoral/academic teams.

·        Literacy testing and co-ordination of intervention for EAL students.

IN RETURN, WE OFFER:

·        Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Access to National College training, subject-specific CPD, leadership pathways, and mentoring programs.

·        Career Progression: Clear pathways for growth, from early careers to leadership roles. We use a ‘touchbase’ informal approach to focus on professional development as well as an annual career conversation with your manager!

·        Wellbeing & Support: Leadership training focused on wellbeing, mental health resources, and staff networks.

·        Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI): Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace, with ongoing EDI training and initiatives.

·        Long weekend off in November for teachers and term time support staff!

·        Automatic pay progression for teachers – we don’t have performance related appraisals and pay reviews!

·        Generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days for all year-round support staff. This increases to 28 days after 5 years!

·        A paid premium to a Healthcare Cash Plan to claim back contributions towards dental, optical and other medical costs via UK Healthcare

·        24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme

·        Amazing benefits and discounts via UK Healthcare

·        Fantastic facilities

·        A lunch allowance for those colleagues volunteering to assist in lunchtime duties or activities
