Lunchtime Assistant job summary

Core Purpose:

To provide a professional food service to the pupils and staff at the school.

Core Duties:

  • Comply with Food Hygiene and Handling standards.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations
  • Prepare the dining area for service, which may include moving and/or setting up furniture and trolleys, cleaning putting away after service.
  • Prepare the service area, hot cupboards, and other equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation, heating and serving of food and beverages.
  • Wash dishes, cutlery, tumblers, jugs, serving utensils, containers, tables, and all other catering equipment in the catering environment.
  • Clean catering areas to regulated standards.

Other specific duties:

  • To continue personal professional development as required.
  • Attend staff and other meetings and participate in staff training and development events as required.
  • To actively engage in the performance review process.
  • All support staff may be used to perform appropriate duties as and when required by the Head of School, commensurate with the salary grade of that post if it is higher than the employee’s current salary.
  • To work in the best interests of the Trust, school, pupils, parents and staff.
  • To adhere to the school’s policies and procedures with particular reference to Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, Teaching and Learning and Health and Safety.

Hours

Hours of work: 11.45am to 1.05pm - Monday to Friday.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to receipt of satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, pre-employment checks and a probation period.
