Lunchtime Supervisor job summary
The successful candidate will:
- Supervise pupils in the dining hall, encouraging positive behaviour, manners and a calm atmosphere
- Monitor and support pupils on the playground and in other indoor or outdoor areas during lunchtime
- Encourage positive play, helping children to join in games, resolve minor conflicts and build friendships
- Support the smooth running of lunchtimes by setting up or clearing away equipment as needed
- Model and reinforce the school's behaviour expectations and safeguarding policies at all times
- Have experience working with children in a similar role
- Understand the importance of safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing in a school setting

Duties and responsibilities
To be on duty in the areas allocated at the time allocated.
To supervise pupils to ensure good behaviour in and around school.
To adhere to school policies and procedures that affect you and your duties (e.g. fire, accident reporting, Safeguarding etc)
To report any accidents and request assistance from one of the school’s first aiders as required, until trained yourself.
To refer any queries by parents about pupils to the headteacher.
Seek assistance from the headteacher or teaching assistant on duty if necessary.
Assist pupils with clearing of plates and cutlery and deal with any spillages as appropriate.
Supervise and assist pupils with packed lunches.
Promote good eating manners.
Help children who are still learning to use a knife and fork.
Refer to the weekly lunchtime rota for your allocated duties.
To assist in the supervision of playtimes ensuring that children behave appropriately and adhere to school rules.
To engage in meaningful conversation with children in the playground and to encourage and assist interactive play.
Skills and Experience Required
Experience working with children
First aid qualification would be useful but training can be provided

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.
