Wheelers Lane is a welcoming and diverse primary school located in the heart of Kings Heath, Birmingham. With over 650 pupils on roll, we proudly serve a richly varied community and celebrate our inclusive ethos, which underpins everything we do. Our curriculum is designed not only to be broad and ambitious, but also to support the whole child, nurturing each pupil’s personal growth, wellbeing and potential, as well as their academic achievement.

We were judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in December 2023, with inspectors highlighting our calm and purposeful learning environment, high expectations, and positive relationships. Our vision - a community of inspiration, aspiration and enrichment - drives us to ensure every child feels safe, valued and motivated to succeed.

We benefit from a dedicated, skilled and experienced teaching team, many of whom have been part of our school for many years. Staff work collaboratively and are deeply committed to improving outcomes for all pupils. This includes a growing focus on developing our Early Years Foundation Stage, ensuring that our youngest learners receive the very best start.

We are committed to areas of further development. Strengthening the channels of communication between leaders and staff, supporting morale, and continuing to build trusting, open relationships across the school community are key priorities for us. We also recognise the value of deepening engagement with parents and carers so that families feel fully involved and supported in their child’s learning journey.
