Cropredy Primary School is seeking to appoint a member of staff to become part of our lunchtime supervisory team and after school club team.

About this Role

Responsibilities:

* To assist with the provision of care and creative play opportunities in consultation with children

* To assist in ensuring that children’s individual needs are recognised and engaging them in establishing and maintaining boundaries for their behaviour.

* To assist with the handover/collection of children to/from other areas of the school, where applicable, and ensure their safe handover to parents/carers at the end of the day.

* To support the playleader in ensuring that the club is a safe environment for all, that equipment is well-maintained, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented and risk assessments, fire drills/evacuation procedures are carried out effectively. This also applies to trips and other off-site activities.

* To prepare food and drink that promotes healthy eating and complies with current school food guidelines and food safety legislation.

* To assist with day to day administration and record keeping.

* To work as part of the whole school team, liaise with relevant staff, and contribute to the promotion of the club.

* To administer first aid and medication as appropriate.

* To maintain constructive relationships and communicate with parents/carers, other professionals, and childcare/play-related agencies including the county council’s Community Childcare and Play staff.

* To work within agreed policies and procedures, and undertake other duties, appropriate to the grade, as may reasonably be required by the playleader, Headteacher or Administrative & Finance Officer.

Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant

About this Role

Responsibilities:

Play with the children! Encourage games and promote social interaction: support and lead children to participate in organised activities.

Ensuring that children have a positive experience within their lunch hour

Supervise children in the dining hall while eating, help them to develop good table manners and social skills.

Assist the Senior Leadership Team with the set up and take down of the furniture in the dining hall including setting up tables benches and clearing stations, cleaning furniture before putting it away, emptying bins, sweeping and mopping the floor and assisting the kitchen staff with return of cutlery and plates/bowls to the kitchen.

Clean and clear tables where appropriate: ensure that the dining hall is always kept safe by wiping tables and clearing any liquids or foods.

Supervise children in the toilets where necessary and ensure no children are inside the classrooms.

Supervise children outside on the playground and field: ensure positive behaviour and the prevention of dangerous play.

Supervise the children during wet lunchtimes: encourage a quiet enjoyable classroom atmosphere in which the children are actively engaged in.

Deal with any behaviour incidents or accidents and report directly to the class teacher. The class teacher will follow this up with the children involved and or parents as required.

Summon help, where necessary, in case of injury or illness and provide basic first aid for minor injuries.

Ensure a full account of any accident when witnessed first-hand is recorded in the Accident Book, and an Accident Form is completed for teachers (to hand to parents) and a copy given to the school Office in the case of head bumps.

To work within agreed policies and procedures, and undertake other duties, appropriate to the grade, as may reasonably be required by the head teacher.

Qualifications: NVQ L2 or 3 in child care and development (play leader or early years); G.C.S.E. maths and English or equivalent.

The candidate must also be able to work as part of a team and be utterly reliable.

The vacancy is split into 2 roles;
Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant (Monday to Friday 11:00 – 13:00) (pay scale Grade 02 Point 02)
Afterschool Club Play Leader (Monday to Thursday 14.45pm – 17:45pm) (pay scale Grade 04 Point 05)
