Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Academy is looking to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant who is able to relate well to students and support their needs during lunchtime.

This is a part-time, term-time only position on a fixed-term contract for one year. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 12:30pm - 2.30pm, (10 hours per week), £25,185 per annum pro rata, actual annual salary £5,854 (£13.05 per hour).

Duties Include:

  • Ensure students wash or sanitise their hands before eating where appropriate.

  • Supervise and, where necessary, direct students to and from the dining area in an orderly manner.

  • Ensure students attending the school dining hall arrive at the appropriate time for their allocated lunch period.

  • Monitor behaviour in the dining area, promoting a calm, respectful, and inclusive environment.

  • Encourage students to clear away their trays, plates, cutlery, and litter, leaving dining areas clean and tidy.

  • Supervise students eating packed lunches and ensure all rubbish and personal belongings are disposed of or stored appropriately.

  • Report any concerns regarding a student's eating habits, wellbeing, or dietary needs to the Senior Midday Supervisor or appropriate member of staff.

  • Supervise students during the lunch break in designated indoor and outdoor areas, depending on weather conditions.

  • Encourage positive participation in recreational and social activities during lunchtime.

  • Ensure students remain within authorised areas and behave safely at all times.

  • Promote high standards of behaviour in accordance with the school's behaviour policy and address low-level incidents appropriately.

  • Support students in developing positive social skills, respectful relationships, and conflict resolution.

  • Provide basic first aid for minor injuries sustained during the lunch break and seek further assistance where required.

  • Respond appropriately to students who become unwell during lunchtime, following school procedures and informing the relevant staff.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns, serious behavioural incidents, bullying, or breaches of school rules to the Senior Midday Supervisor or relevant member of staff.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, teaching staff, students, parents/carers, and visitors as required.

  • Attend mandatory training and professional development sessions relevant to the role.

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, positive, and supportive lunchtime environment that promotes student wellbeing and personal responsibility.
