About this Role
Job Outline
Reporting to the Area Manager, the role is:
- To ensure a safe and stimulating environment for children
- To provide effective leadership, management and administration of the After School Club
- To lead and oversee the quality of provision and the care and safety of children
- To work with the Area Manager to monitor, review and evaluate the provisions so that a live Club development plan is maintained.
Key responsibilities
Plan, oversee and deliver the activities to encourage the children’s development & enjoyment;
- Ensure safeguarding and KCSIE procedures are followed;
- Maintain professional standard of childcare
- Review and monitor quality of planning;
- To work with the School’s Senior Leadership Team to align behaviour standard and values of the Schools;
- DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead training provided if necessary), to liaise with Head Teacher and Area Manager;
- Ensure the booking system is administered correctly;
- Maintenance and purchasing of resources and equipment
- Act as a representative of the club when liaising with parents & professionals
- To work with the Area Manager to monitor, review and evaluate the provisions so that a live Club development plan is maintained;
Supervision
- Maintain staff standards by organising Induction, PDCs, work allocation, team meetings and staff training;
- Monitor Staff Regulations. i.e. Mobile phone, Uniform, signing in procedures alongside
- Work with deputies to organise planning and implementation including enrichment activities;
- Organise and monitor leave and sickness with Area Manager;
- Staff observations to enable Performance Management and staff training;
- Monitor Health and Safety and risk assessments are carried out including Recording of Accidents;
- Child Protection issues are recorded by Manager via CPOMS if necessary;
- Monitoring and checking of equipment and resources.

Job Context
The Out of school setting provides care and play for school age children After School and after school provision runs until 17:30pm. The setting is regulated by the Ofsted Early Years framework and subject to the Children’s Act (1989).
Knowledge, Experience and Training
- At least Level 3 Qualification in Play work or equivalent essential. Higher qualification desirable;
- Previous experience of providing care and activities within a childcare, play or educational environment;
- Management experience;
- Experience of supervision of staff;
- Experience of planning and organising a programme of activities;
- Computer literate and competent in Office Word/Excel etc
- Good communication skills;
- Knowledge of child development and the role of play;
- Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection;
- Knowledge of health and safety and welfare issues within a childcare environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective relationships with staff and parents;
- Recognise the need to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
