Department information

All the Social Sciences have a superb uptake at KS4 and KS5, they are extremely popular with the students who enjoy and value them greatly. The department takes a fully inclusive approach towards delivery of all the specialisms and believe that Social Sciences are subjects for everyone. We know that the skills mastered through a graduated curriculum are crucial for young people trying to make sense of the world and their place within it.

The department enjoys first class facilities as a result of a recent extensive rebuilding programme. All classrooms contain a modern electronic lectern with an inbuilt networked PC and visualizer, which is connected to an interactive whiteboard and connected speaker system. The department is located centrally in the school with dedicated teaching spaces and access to photocopiers, scanners and printers. There are also very close links to the sixth form centre, common room and roof terrace.

We are committed to offering students a positive and enriching experience in Social Sciences and as such, we deliver a range of extra-curricular opportunities, including clubs after school and regular trips. Recent visits have included the Old Bailey, Worcestershire NHS Trust Industry Day, King’s Careers Fair, Birmingham City University and Worcestershire Youth Takeover Day.

As part of a wider successful Multi Academy Trust, we also share resources, best practice and specialisms with colleagues from our 12 other Tudor Grange Schools. All courses are centrally resourced and localised to suit each individual department and their specific requirements. Specialist language pedagogical advisors and CPD programmes are accessible to all Social Science staff.
