Additional role info: Working Pattern - Monday to Thursday (Flexibility on working days across the week, with the exception of Tuesday as a core day)

Your opportunity to lead the strategic development of mathematics education across the region

We are looking for an inspirational expert mathematics leader to take on the strategic and operational leadership of the Boolean Maths Hub. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a deep understanding of maths education, professional development and system leadership to shape and influence maths teaching and learning across a wide region of the South West.

As Maths Hub Lead, you will play a pivotal role in championing the success and life chances of children across our trust and beyond. Through visionary leadership, high-quality professional development and strong collaboration with schools and partners, you will ensure that our regional offer creates lasting impact on teaching, leadership and pupil outcomes in mathematics.

About you:

You will be:

  • An expert mathematics practitioner and leader, with a strong track record of improving teaching, curriculum and outcomes in mathematics across a school, trust or wider system.
  • A qualified teacher (QTS) with a degree, and a demonstrable commitment to professional learning; leadership development such as NPQ programmes is essential.
  • Experienced in leading staff development, building teams and supporting others to improve practice, ideally across multiple schools or contexts.
  • Knowledgeable in current policy, research and evidence in mathematics education, with the ability to translate this into high-impact professional development.
  • A strategic thinker, able to design, implement and evaluate large-scale programmes and annual plans aligned to national priorities and local needs.
  • A strong communicator, confident in liaising with school leaders, external partners, NCETM, DfE representatives and wider stakeholders.
  • Committed to equity and inclusion, ensuring that professional development supports disadvantaged and underrepresented groups to achieve in mathematics.
  • Able to analyse data, quality assure provision and drive continuous improvement, ensuring that all Hub activity is high quality, impactful and evidence-informed.
  • A collaborative leader, able to motivate and inspire teams, manage a dispersed workforce of work group leads and facilitators, and build positive relationships across the region.
  • Highly organised, resilient and adaptable, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of delivery.

The role will include opportunities to:

  • Lead the strategic vision and direction of the Boolean Maths Hub in partnership with the NCETM and CLF Institute.
  • Develop a culture of collaboration, inclusion and professional trust across a large regional network of schools.
  • Oversee the design, delivery and evaluation of all Maths Hub work groups and professional development activity.
  • Lead and develop the Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team, administrative teams and a wide network of practitioners.
  • Build strong partnerships with Teaching School Hubs, local authorities, HEIs/ITT providers, and national bodies.
  • Act as a credible and visible ambassador for the Maths Hub, promoting participation and representing the region in local, regional and national forums.
  • Ensure the effective management of resources, budgets and quality assurance processes, maintaining compliance with NCETM and DfE expectations.
