37 HOURS PER WEEK, TERM TIME (40 WEEKS)

MONDAY TO FRIDAY - 08.00 TO 16.00 MONDAY TO THURSDAY, 08.00 TO 15.30 ON FRIDAY

To work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.

Can deliver up to five timetabled lessons as required by the department's needs and lead whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification, or three years full-time or five years part-time experience as a Senior Teaching Assistant.
  • Have up to date knowledge and understanding of the practices and procedures within education relating to the welfare, safety and education of children.
  • Understand the principles of child development and learning processes.
  • Have an ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
  • Have an ability to relate well to children and adults.
