Maths Teacher job summary

We are an enthusiastic and highly committed team who pride ourselves on the quality of the relationships we have with our students and with each other, and with the quality of teaching and learning that goes on in our classrooms. We work closely with our colleagues across Education South West sharing our curriculum, resources and expertise.

At GCSE, students follow the Edexcel course. A large majority of the students take the Higher Paper. There are excellent levels of success - in 2025, 77% of Year 11 achieved a Grade 4 and above in maths, with 60% achieving Grade 5 and above. This has continued to build on our history of outstanding outcomes in maths for our students. Uptake at A Level is very strong in A Level maths (AQA), and Further maths (AQA) and we also have students studying for Level 3 Core maths in Year 12. Success levels within our Post 16 provision are exceptional - in 2025 76% of A Level maths students achieved A*-B and 100% of Further Maths A Level Students. Large numbers of students go on to study maths related subjects after leaving.

The department has developed into a cohesive team as we continue to develop our expertise within the new qualifications and the ongoing re-shaping of the curriculum to meet the needs of learners at Key Stages 3-5, supporting each other along this process. There are plenty of opportunities for you to collaborate as part of the wider teaching team across the College and with other ESW subject staff in supporting our aspiration to ensure that every child achieves outstanding outcomes.

About Kingsbridge Community College
An outstanding learning community, where individuals thrive
Welcome to Kingsbridge Community College and thank you for your interest in our school.

We are passionate about learning and ensuring that our learners thrive and grow amidst our beautiful surroundings here in South Devon. We recognise the benefits a first class education brings and encourage our students to be ambitious and bold in their learning journey and to make the most of every opportunity. We are proud of the excellent teaching, care and guidance that we offer, along with first class facilities and a wide range of opportunities in and beyond the classroom. We are justifiably proud of our Outstanding Ofsted judgement, and routinely seek excellence in all that we do.

Year on year, our students attain at the very highest levels and we are proud of our position alongside the very best state comprehensive schools in the South West and nationally. Our examination results are outstanding and the significant majority of our students go on into our 6th Form and from there to university. KCC students are well prepared for their futures and are successful in gaining places at the universities of their first choice; these universities are also ranked among the best in the United Kingdom, indeed internationally, including Oxbridge. We ensure that our students are exceptionally well prepared to make choices about their future, whether that is higher education, training or employment.

We have a strong commitment to developing the whole child and providing a wealth of opportunities beyond the classroom. Our students regularly delight and amaze us with their talents, achievements and successess across a wide range of activities. We organise concerts, festivals, musical productions, plays, competitions, shows, exhibitions and leadership programmes for students and each year we reach national and regional finals in a range of sports and other extra-curricular activities.

We are a Teaching School and as such are committed to providing high quality training and development to new and experienced school staff, raising the standards of provision far beyond our own establishment. In September 2016 we became one of five national Research Schools through a joint project led by The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). This exciting programme will see the College further develop its use of evidence based practice and expertise across an alliance of schools.

I hope that what you have read gives you a sense of what we value most - an outstanding learning community where individuals thrive. If you wish to be part of our success as a parent, student, employee or friend please do not hesitate to make contact with us to find out more.
