What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualified Teacher Status (or QTS anticipated)

Recent successful experience of working with
and/or teaching learners with special educational
needs within a school setting

Proven track record in developing and
implementing a successful Citizenship curriculum
for Secondary school
- Proven ability to demonstrate excellent classroom practice
- Proven ability in working successfully as part of a staff team
- Evidence of knowing how to evaluate one’s own strengths and weaknesses
- Evidence of effective partnership working with
parents and carers

Knowledge and experience of current good
practice and curriculum developments in special
and mainstream primary education provision
- Knowledge of how the National Curriculum Programmes of Study can guide curriculum planning
- Knowledge of child development
- More extensive knowledge of and/or interest in at least one curriculum area
- Knowledge of successful practice in teaching learners on the autistic spectrum or social, emotional mental health including the ability to promote appropriate behaviour

We have an exciting opportunity for a subject leader of mechanics and motor vehicle technology or construction skills to join our vocational team. This unique opportunity would allow you to set up a new curriculum delivering ABC and/or City and Guilds qualifications to very small groups of students aged 14-19 in an impressive workshop space. We are looking for an experienced practitioner with relevant trade qualifications, recent industry experience, and the passion, knowledge and skills to deliver Entry Level 3- Level 2 qualifications to young people with a range of special educational needs. You will need to have enthusiasm and patience to personalise learning and have the communication skills needed to make network links with local industry to help our students transition from sixth form to employment or further training.

Nightingale Community Academy is a school for boys aged between 5 and 19 who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Statement of SEN for social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Some learners also have Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or other learning difficulties.
