Media Technician job summary

The Media and Film Department has ten members of teaching staff, one senior technician, one part-time technician and 500+ students. Courses taught in the department are A Level Media Studies, A Level Film Studies and Digital Media. The department is extremely well resourced and continually delivers outstanding results, with many of our students progressing onto Further Education to study Media and Film courses.

The role of the Media Technician is to work closely with both our technicians and teaching staff to provide technical assistance for our students to allow them to produce outstanding coursework and to develop the technical support we provide.

The role includes a number of key tasks, including:

Managing the kit hire process for our students using our internal systems
Delivering a range of tutorials to classes of students on a range of topics throughout the year including (DSLR Cameras, Using the Studio, Premiere Pro and Photoshop).
To provide technical support for teachers in coursework lessons throughout the academic year.
To work with our technical team on the delivery of our enrichment programme to students as required.
To work with our technical team on building a range of material to support our students, including video tutorials to be published on our YouTube Channel.
We are seeking an individual who displays the following characteristics:

A genuine passion for the subject;
Excellent skills with modern technology, including Adobe Creative Suite and Premier Pro;
Excellent subject knowledge with a range of digital and hands on skills;
Good organisational skills;
Desire to continue to develop their knowledge and skills;
An ability to multitask;
Enthusiasm for working with 16-19 year old students;
Outstanding communication skills.
