What skills and experience we're looking for
An
opportunity exists for an inspiring and proactive Mental Health Practitioner to
make a positive and profound impact on the lives of our school communities by
supporting students overcome the barriers of poor mental and/or emotional
health. Whilst retaining a high degree
of autonomy, the successful candidate will work closely with teachers and
pastoral leaders across the school and work closely in partnership with
colleagues from other RKLT schools and our cluster team.
The role requires someone who is able to respond positively to rapidly changing demands whilst maintaining high levels of emotional intelligence when working with a range of staff, students, parents and external agencies. To assist in the universal offer, you will contribute towards the development of our schools’ Personal Development/PSHE programme, either in its delivery, advising of its content or in the provision of resources; thereby helping us work towards increasing resilience amongst individuals within the student bodies.
Additionally, working within existing caring and supportive environments, you will be responsible for the provision of specialist and targeted therapeutic support and interventions to students with a range of mental and emotional poor health. These may include, but are not limited to, students that have experienced, or are experiencing, bereavement; anxiety; self-harm and suicidal thoughts, or eating disordersetc. To carry out the role it would be a distinct advantage if you were qualified and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or similar,unless coming from a mental health background, when an equivalent qualification would be equally desirable.
