What skills and experience we're looking for

Governors seek to appoint a well-qualified, committed and enthusiastic German/French teacher to join our excellent Modern Foreign Languages department of seven specialists. The department is highly achieving and very popular in the Sixth Form. This post is suitable both for newly/recently qualified teachers and those with experience, and we welcome applications from teachers interested in both a full time or part time position. St Thomas More is a large, highly successful academy, with an excellent reputation both locally and nationally. It serves the whole of North Tyneside and has a strong, genuinely comprehensive intake. It is part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust.

Job overview

The successful candidate will be a dedicated German/French teacher with the energy, enthusiasm and desire to inspire a love of languages. They will be responsible for planning and delivering languages lessons in line with department schemes of work, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. They will work collaboratively with the MFL team and wider staff to sustain and raise the achievement of all students at St Thomas More.

Job requirements

Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent qualification

Relevant specialist qualifications and subject experience: Ability to teach German and/or French to at least GCSE Level

Understanding of curriculum requirements for languages and to plan and deliver high-quality lessons

Sound knowledge of delivery of both oral and written aspects of MFL to ensure consistent levels of speaking and writing are achieved

Ability to understand and implement assessment methods to support progress

Enthusiasm and commitment to the MFL team
