Midday Supervisor job summary

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and conscientious MDS to work as part of a team monitoring pupils' behaviour during the midday break.

You will be expected to...

  • Supervise activities and maintain the health, safety, welfare, good conduct and safeguarding of pupils during the midday break, having regard to special or additional needs.
  • Assist in the supervision of other activities during the midday break, including setting out, carrying and storing equipment.
  • Encourage pupils to eat healthy balanced meals.
  • Communicate with pupils during midday breaks and oversee play activities.
  • Clean up spillages of food or liquid during meal service.
  • Wipe down tables and clean dining areas between meals.
  • Report incidents in line with school policy and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in training and performance development as required. Attend relevant meetings.

  • Will be flexible when needed, enthusiastic and positive, as well as being conscientious and a good communicator with both children and adults.
  • Can use their initiative to react positively and appropriately to day-to-day situations.
  • Works independently at dealing with day-to-day incidents and minor emergencies.
  • Uses/stores equipment and materials responsibly and safely.
  • Is aware of school standards and practices in relation to health & safety and child protection.
  • Has a sense of humour and commitment to teamwork.
