We are seeking a Midday Supervisor to join our friendly, ambitious and forward thinking team. Lunchtime is an important part of our pupils’ school day and we require caring and patient staff to support our children. This includes supporting eating meals, mirroring expectations, engaging in play and keeping children safe. As an employer, we offer a wide variety of training to all our staff, ensuring all staff feel supported and included within our school community.

Overall Responsibility

To support the lunch team, to ensure the safety and well-being of pupils and lunch time.

Duties

  • To assist in the dining hall where needed e.g. reporting dinner numbers, clearing away, setting up
  • Support the needs and wellbeing of children in classrooms and outside in order to ensure the safety of everyone.
  • Ensure lunchtime is a positive experience for the children.
  • Encourage good eating habits and assisting children where necessary.
  • Maintaining a safe lunch environment, e.g. wiping up spillages to ensure a safe and ordered environment is maintained, supporting children in getting and clearing their dinners.
  • Supervision of movement of children to and from classroom and toilets.
  • Ensure relevant teachers are informed if a there is a reason to bring a child to their attention (illness, injury or other issues that might need to be communicated).
  • Have a clear knowledge of the safeguarding procedures in school and be confident to follow these.

Health and Safety

  • Be aware of the responsibility for personal Health, Safety and Welfare and that of others who may be affected by your actions or inactions.
  • Co-operate with the employer on all issues to do with Health, Safety & Welfare.

Continuing Professional Development

  • In conjunction with the line manager, take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up- to-date with developments related to school efficiency, which may lead to improvements in the day-to-day running of the school.
  • Undertake any necessary professional development as identified in the School Improvement Plan taking full advantage of any relevant training and development available.

Employees are expected to be courteous to colleagues and children, providing a welcoming environment to visitors and telephone callers.
