Midday Supervisor job summary

Join Hurst Park Primary as a Midday Supervisor! 

Are you looking for a rewarding part-time role supporting children during their lunch break? Hurst Park Primary School, part of LEO Academy Trust, is seeking a patient, calm, and fair individual to join our dedicated team as a Midday Supervisor.

We need someone with experience working with children, good communication skills, and the ability to organize and supervise fun play activities.

The Role

As a Midday Supervisor, you will be crucial in ensuring a safe and positive lunchtime environment. You will be:

  • Providing general supervision of pupils during the lunch period, in the dining hall, playground (and classrooms in poor weather).
  • Interacting with the pupils by organising games and equipment.
  • Supervising pupils, including washing hands before eating and ensuring pupils tidy up/clear up in a satisfactory manner.
  • Maintaining high expectations of behaviour and discipline at all times, following the school's Behaviour and Anti-Bullying policies.
  • Dealing with first aid matters and reporting serious incidents to the office staff and/or School Principal immediately they occur.
  • Working closely and cooperatively with other school staff, being part of the school team.
  • Being familiar with and able to put into practice safeguarding policies and procedures.

Key Requirements & Personal Qualities

You will be a good role model to the children and possess the following qualities:

  • Patience and a calm nature
  • The ability to be firm but fair in matters of discipline
  • Experience of working with children with the ability to relate well to them.
  • Good communication skills (written and oral).
  • Be willing to work as part of an established team under the direction of the Lead Midday Supervisor.
  • Will ideally have some first aid experience and be willing and able to deal with minor first aid (Training can be arranged, if necessary).
  • A relevant NVQ 2/3 is desirable.

Pay and Hours

  • Hours: 6.25 hours per week, term time only, initially fixed until the end of the academic year
  • Pay Scale: Surrey Pay scale PS1/2
  • Pension: You will be enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme

  • Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK from the location provided and not from overseas.
