Midday Supervisory Assistant (MSA) job summary


Marshland High School are seeking to appoint a motivated Midday Supervisory Assistant (MSA), to join their friendly team.

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Salary: Scale A Point 2, £12.65 per hour - Approx £2,751 per annum (FTE £24,413 based on a 37 hour week – please note salary will be pro rata)
  • Hours: 1 hour per day, 5 days per week, 38 weeks per year (term time). Working hours will be 1.20pm – 2.20pm Monday to Friday

Purpose of the Job


You will be required to support our Special Educational Needs students over lunchtime. This involves supervision of the children, following procedures as required and helping the students’ queries. You will liaise with other support staff and duty staff to ensure efficient lunchtime operations.


Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Having proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school in which they work as professional members of staff and maintain high standards in your own attendance and punctuality

• Demonstrating positive attitudes, values and behaviours to develop and sustain effective relationships with the school community.

• Having regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ wellbeing by following relevant statutory guidance along with school policies and practice.

• Upholding values consistent with those required from teachers by respecting individual differences and cultural diversity.

• Committing to improve their own practice through self-evaluation and awareness.

• Liaising with the duty team and other relevant staff to ensure consistent supervision of the student(s)

• Demonstrating and encouraging high expectations of students

• Monitoring and challenging student behaviour where it falls short of the School Behaviour Policy and expectations


Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

• To deliver the designated programme of teaching as presented in the published scheme of work. 

• To use a variety of delivery methods to stimulate learning, appropriate to student abilities. 

• To prepare and update subject materials. 

• To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students that meets internal and external quality standards. 

• Within the guidance presented in the school Assessment Policy and using appropriate I.T. systems, to assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students. 

• To take part in Parent/Carer Information Evenings.
