Midday Welfare Assistant job summary

We are looking for Midday Welfare Assistants to join our friendly team’s at Polden Bower School based in Bower Lane & Albert Street. Working term time only Monday to Friday 11.00 am – 2.00 pm each day – 15 hours per week plus Inset days to start in September 2025.

This is a Grade 16 post. Approximate annual gross salary £9,021, monthly £751.

Our students have a wide range of learning needs. We offer a personalised curriculum alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities and interventions.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising and assist students with their midday meal

Attending to pupils’ personal care needs

Supporting children’s play during lunchtime encouraging constructive and imaginative play.

Helping to clear the hall and classroom keeping them clean and tidy

Support in the classroom where needed around the lunchtime period

Willingness to undertake training to support their role and an understanding of the requirements to attend safeguarding sessions

Applicants should be:

Able to work alongside others to ensure independent life skills are practiced and developed throughout the day

Able to demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic approach

Enjoy working with children and young people

Some personal care will be involved

Well organised and very reliable
