Mobile Catering Assistant (Schools) job summary

AMAT Catering Services is part of Arden Multi Academy trust, a group of schools providing excellent education to children and young people within Solihull and the local area. Our Catering team are proud of delivering delicious, healthy school meals using locally sourced, high-quality ingredients to pupils within all our schools. We are delighted to be able offer the role of mobile catering assistant within the Trust.

The postholder will assist with the preparation and serving of meals, refreshments and other catering services. If you, therefore, have an interest in food and are enthusiastic, self-motivated, able to assist in the preparation and serving of meals to students and staff and would like to work with teams across our sites with the same commitment we would love to hear from you.

This is a permanent vacancy for a mobile catering assistant to work Monday to Friday.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week. 9:30am to 2:00pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break, where lunch is provided. A degree of flexibility around start and finish times may be required as schools operate different lunch breaks.

As the post requires travelling between school sites the ability to drive is essential. The post is based at Arden Academy in Knowle, Solihull and mileage will be paid for any distances travelled over and above the normal daily commute.

The Trust provides catering to the following schools and travel to any one of them may be required: Arden Academy, Knowle, Dorridge Primary School, Dorridge, Lode Heath School, Solihull, Coppice Academy, Solihull, Park Hall Academy, Castle Bromwich and Henley in Arden School, Henley in Arden.

Hours of work: 9:30am to 2:00pm (4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, including 30 min unpaid break, lunch provided). A degree of flexibility around these hours is required as schools operate different times for lunch service.

The key responsibilities for this post are as follows (a comprehensive job description is available):

Preparation and some cooking of food

Preparing the dining area for service, placing out and putting away of dining room tables, chairs and utensils as required

Preparing the counter for service

Transporting food between service points, serving meals

Operating the till systems

Excellent customer service skills
