An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Teacher of Music and Drama to join our school. (We would also consider applications from people who could only offer one of Music or Drama).
Beccles High School is enthusiastically embracing the journey to excellence. We joined Sapientia Education Trust in September 2024 when the school was renamed and a new Headteacher appointed. Since then we have seen a dramatic transformation because every decision we make is about the young people we serve, their learning experience and personal development and we are very proud of the positive impact we are having on their futures.
The school is friendly, supportive and incredibly inclusive for students and staff. We are a small school and a real community. Everybody knows, and supports, everybody else, working collectively with the same goals and ambitions for our students. Leaders have an open-door policy to support staff and we all take pleasure in sharing and celebrating achievement. All teachers have their own rooms and marking is kept to a minimum.
Part of our ethos is the amazing array of opportunities we offer students, including a timetabled 100 minutes per fortnight of enhancement activities: with sports, arts, community projects and academic extension. Backed by a huge variety of clubs and societies, this is one of the reasons for the remarkably strong relationships between staff and pupils. We will also run after school academies in football, STEM and performing arts delivered by external professionals.
The school and Trust provide a comprehensive induction programme. There are employee benefits such as membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and an extensive “Academy of Learning” professional development programme, cycle to work, store discounts and a welfare programme. Schools within the Trust support each other and there are often opportunities to gain experience elsewhere, or benefit from the experience of others. Staff wellbeing is a focus, with flexible approaches and careful consultation. Our small size also means that there are many opportunities for those who would like to build a range of experience quickly.
The school is located in an attractive market town on the Norfolk Broads, surrounded by countryside and very close to Norfolk and Suffolk’s amazing beaches. The beautiful cathedral city of Norwich is about 25 minutes away. Housing is affordable and there is a more relaxed way of life.
Join us in our mission to create a nurturing environment where all students feel valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

At Beccles, we believe that each and every student deserves to go to an excellent school. Our focus is on delivering high-quality, engaging lessons and providing students with the care and guidance that allows them to succeed. Our students tell us that they value the way lessons are delivered and the strong relationships that exist in school between students and staff. This is only possible because of our small size and our belief and confidence in every student as an individual.
We offer a traditional curriculum that enables our students to flourish academically, and which lays the foundations for their successful progression into post-16 learning. We are preparing our young people to be thoughtful, innovative, capable, responsible global citizens of the future; they will leave us with excellent qualifications and having outperformed their counterparts nationally.
Our vision is shared by all staff, and together we are responsible for upholding and promoting the values within it. Staff are supported at all levels by middle and senior leaders in their teaching, behaviour management, career development and wellbeing.
