Music Teacher job summary

The Thomas Aveling School is a fantastic school to work in with supportive and visible leaders and an amazing team spirit – we are a happy school! You will meet well-behaved and motivated children who enjoy learning and make great progress. We are a popular and massively over-subscribed school, being first choice for many families.

Pupils and students say that they are happy, and they feel safe. They say that staff care about them and help them to do their best” -Ofsted, Sept 22

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented teacher of Music to join our team of dedicated teachers. Music is the soul of a school and as such our Music teachers have a special place at Thomas Aveling. Uniquely in a high school, part of your timetable will be allocated to developing our Choir, Orchestra and other musical ensembles. Classroom teaching of Music is also important, as is developing a student’s love of Music and performing.

This is a part-time position; however full-time candidates will be considered if other subjects are offered. Full support and induction will be provided.

“Staff have confidence in their leaders. They feel their workload is manageable through sharing resources and working cooperatively. They are proud to be a member of staff” Ofsted, Sept 22.

We seek someone who:

  • will not only be able to inspire and motivate our students to achieve their full potential, but will also be able to develop a student’s appreciation of the role Music plays in everyday life;
  • has strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage students from diverse backgrounds.
  • has adaptability and resilience to thrive in a dynamic educational environment.
  • is committed to upholding the values and ethos of the Thomas Aveling School.

In return, we will offer you:

  • a school where all students are happy to learn
  • a high performing and incredibly supportive group of colleagues and leaders
  • a comprehensive induction programme to teachers at all stages of their career
  • Care First employee assistance programme
  • Private health care cover by Benenden
  • two-week half term in October
  • membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged. For further information and to arrange a school visit, please contact Emma Elliott on 01634 844809 or via emaileelliott@thomasaveling.co.uk

We reserve the right to bring forward the closing date where interest and applications received are high, therefore we encourage early applications.
