Your Role in Building Brighter Futures

As a Teacher of Music at Wellsway School, you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about living our values and making a positive impact on all the young people in our Trust.

Wellsway Music Department is a thriving department with A-Level Music and over 10% of students opting for GCSE Music.  Our students embrace new opportunities and love getting involved in our musical community.  Last year we ran a Christmas concert, featuring 150 students including an orchestra; a community Come and Sing event with 100 singers attending, an Open Mic Night with 24 performances ranging from soloists to band; three Tea-Time concerts for our instrumentalists in a local residential home followed by a Summer concert.  Our KS3 curriculum features composing on technology with Soundtrap for every KS3 student, plus classroom workshopping in a practical space with keyboards, guitars, ukuleles and bass guitars.  We also have nine instrumental teachers visiting the school weekly teaching over 100 students.  We are looking for an excellent musician and teacher who will embrace busy music filled days with good humour and an inner sense of calm!

As teacher of music you will be responsible for:

Delivering the KS3 curriculum

Teaching AQA GCSE Music

Teaching units from AQA A-Level

Supporting, and leading, rehearsals

Working alongside the Head of Music to ensure the department continues to develop and meet the musical interests and needs of all our students.

What You’ll Bring to Futura

Qualifications: Degree in Music

Experience: Previous teaching experience both in the classroom, and also as an instrumental/singing teacher. An expertise in singing or technology would be particularly welcome.

Skills: A specialist in their chosen instrument or voice; an ability to rehearse choirs and instrumental ensembles; an ability make every child believe that music can play a part in their life/

Demonstrates a passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community.

Aligns with our trust-wide values by bringing a positive, collaborative approach to their work and a willingness to continuously develop professionally.
