National Lead for Teaching & Learning (South Yorkshire & Cambridgeshire Academies) job summary

Join Astrea Academy Trust as the National Lead for Teaching & Learning!

The National Lead for Teaching & Learning will drive improvements in teaching and learning across our nine secondary schools via shared approaches informed by TLAC, Rosenshine and recent developments in cognitive science. The successful candidate will assist, coach and support our Assistant Principals for Pedagogy to find coherence in approaches to teaching and learning, ensuring that sound and research informed approaches are implemented with fidelity.

The National Lead for Teaching and Learning will help position the Trust as a national leader in education, particularly for innovation in curriculum and teaching and learning. The role should look to cultivate strong influencing relationships with relevant societies, public and private sector partners, testing and examination consortia and national policy makers.

About Us:

Astrea Academy Trust is an ambitious, forward thinking and dynamic Trust on a mission to tackle historic educational disadvantage and raise standards of education and opportunity across all our schools. We strive for excellence, ensuring every child in our 26 academies gets a brilliant education, free from barriers. We champion a scholarly culture, a knowledge-rich curriculum, and a traditional approach to teaching, behaviour, and culture, fostering an environment where children can learn, thrive and lead successful lives.

Our academies are based across South Yorkshire (One all-through, three secondaries and seventeen primaries) and Cambridgeshire (four secondaries and one special school), predominantly in geographical areas or at schools which have experienced generationally poor educational opportunities. Our mission is to change that. We have grown rapidly since being founded in 2015 and now educate around 14,000 students across four local authorities.

In return, we can offer you:

  • Generous Annual Leave entitlement
  • Access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme
  • Flexible working opportunities from your first day
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Continued professional development and training opportunities
  • Free on-site parking
