Nursery Assistant

Job Title: Nursery Assistant - Level 2

Location: Park Lane Primary & Nursery School

Hours: 15 hours a week. Fixed term only 12 noon to 3.45pm (Tuesday - Thursday), Term Time Only

Park Lane Nursery is a 52 place Early Years setting offering integrated education and care to children from 3 years old. We strive to provide every child within the nursery with an opportunity to grow and develop.

The Nursery is attached to and very much a part of Park Lane Primary School. Park Lane Primary School and Nursery were judged to be ‘Good’ by Ofsted in July 2024.

Due to an increase in pupils for the summer term, we are look for a passionate, resilient Nursery Assistant to join our team. The successful candidates will have the ability to build strong, positive relationships with the children and help to create an engaging learning environment that supports both academic progress and emotional development.

The successful candidates will support children and help them to access learning and thrive in our nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning activities and support for children, including those with SEND
  • Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups
  • Contribute to the assessment of pupils’ development
  • Assist with the planning and adaptation of learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Work collaboratively with the Nursery manager, SENCo and external professionals
  • Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with personal care where required
  • To keep children safe by following the school’s safeguarding procedures

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with young children (0-5 years)
  • Has a caring, patient and nurturing approach
  • Has good communication and teamwork skills
  • Understands safeguarding and child protection
  • Has a commitment to supporting all children to reach their full potential
  • Has relevant childcare qualification (e.g. Level 2 Childcare/Early Years)
  • Has knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Has some experience supporting children with additional needs
