Nursery Lead job summary
The Avenue Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Nursery Lead to support in the delivery of its nursery provision. This is a wonderful opportunity for a proactive Early Years Professional looking to join a team who are committed to ensuring safe, high-quality education and care for all.
Working Hours: Part Time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training Days). Required: ASAP.

The successful candidate must have a relevant Level 3 qualification, experience of working with the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and will be expected to demonstrate a warm and caring approach with the children. This is a hands-on role, which requires you to be an ambassador for the nursery, including caring for and maintaining a high-quality, learning environment for children as well as overseeing and supporting colleagues in the day-to-day running of the nursery.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their learning and development;
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of children, staff and parents;
- Has a good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum;
- Has the ability to plan termly/weekly/daily activities from a provided curriculum plan;
- Is able to manage a team of hard-working nursery assistants;
- Has at least a Level 3 qualification;
- Is able to work with the school SENDCo;
- Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
- Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
- Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
- Is a strong team player, who can use their own initiative;
- Can demonstrate leadership qualities and share good practice;
- Has a positive and flexible attitude;
- Can observe and record a child’s progress as well as plan exciting and stimulating activities for the EYFS;
- Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
- Has experience working with children with SEND (advantageous).
