The successful applicant will have good literacy and numeracy skills, a relevant level 3 qualification (or equivalent standard) and experience of working with young children in an educational or nursery setting.

North Cave Church of England Primary School are looking for a Nursery Nurse who is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children to join our friendly team and who play a vital role in supporting and assisting the teaching, learning and care of children within our school.

The working hours are from 8:50am to 4:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday up to 31 December 2026, and from 1 January 2027 Thurs, Fri. 8.50am - 4pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break, during the school term. You will also be paid for an additional 15.5 hours per year to attend the school training days. Paid at scale point 6, £13.47 per hour, this is paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. The position is fixed term until 31 July 2027.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities associated with this role involve facilitating the participation and learning of pupils either individually or in small groups, helping to build confidence and self-esteem, including but not limited to:

  • clarifying and explaining instructions;
  • ensuring pupil's are able to use equipment and materials provided; Including, moving and handling to meet a child’s individual needs.
  • assisting in identified areas, e.g. language, behaviour, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation, the use of ICT, social skills and EAL
  • helping pupils to concentrate on, and finish work set;
  • meeting the physical needs of pupils as required whilst encouraging independence;
  • liaising with the class teacher and SENCO about individual needs
  • developing appropriate resources to support the pupil(s)

    The Education Alliance Multi-Academy Trust was established in 2015 so that South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College could support the setting up of Hunsley Primary School, the East Riding’s first Free School. In February 2016, Malet Lambert School, an 11-16 school in Hull, joined the trust and the following year, Driffield School and Sixth Form joined as a sponsored academy. The Snaith School, an 11-16 school joined us in April 2019 and North Cave CE Primary School in November 2019. Howden Junior School joined us October 2022 followed by Wilberfoss CE Primary School in May 2023. Howden CE Infant School joined us in September 2023 followed by Naburn CE Primary School who joined on 1 October as a sponsored academy.

    In addition to the ten schools, the trust also operates Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training, the only Outstanding SCITT based in East Yorkshire, which is training a new generation of primary and secondary teachers in East Riding and Hull.
