What skills and experience we're looking for
Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with the Local Monitoring Committee of Berrycoombe School, are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and empathetic Level 3 Nursery Practitioner.
Role Purpose
Your role purpose will be to champion an inclusive, safe, and vibrant learning environment where every child can thrive. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality early years education, supporting the leadership team in executing engaging activities, and ensuring the individual needs of all children—including those with SEND—are met with care and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
· Learning & Development: Deliver inclusive play and learning opportunities that challenge and inspire children. Assist in the planning and practical organization of group activities and individual sessions.
· Collaborative Support: Work closely with the Headteacher, EYFS Lead, and Nursery Manager to implement the curriculum and monitor child progress through consistent assessment.
· Safety & Wellbeing: Maintain a rigorous focus on the health, safety, and emotional well-being of all children, ensuring the setting remains a secure and happy environment.
· Inclusive Practice: Provide tailored support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring equitable access to all learning opportunities and setting activities.
· Environment Management: Help maintain a stimulating, organized, and hygienic setting that encourages exploration and independent learning.
About You:
We are looking for a dedicated and creative professional to join our team. In this role, you will be more than just a staff member; you will be a key figure in shaping the intellectual, physical, and emotional growth of our children.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Inspired Teaching & Learning
· Holistic Development: Work with individuals and groups to deliver the EYFS curriculum, nurturing children’s social, emotional, and physical skills.
· Creative Environment: Bring the classroom to life! You’ll design and maintain vibrant indoor and outdoor learning spaces that spark curiosity and foster independent play.
· Planning & Collaboration: Work alongside the Nursery Manager and EYFS Lead to plan, deliver, and reflect on high-quality learning activities.
2. Observation & Individual Growth
· Tracking Progress: Be the expert on your "key children" by recording meaningful observations and identifying the "next steps" for their unique learning journeys.
· Insightful Feedback: Participate in team discussions and paired observations to ensure every child’s progress is accurately tracked and supported.
3. Safety, Wellbeing & Inclusion
· Nurturing Care: Monitor the health, behaviour, and general wellbeing of our children, promoting a healthy lifestyle and a positive "can-do" attitude.
· Expert Liaison: Work closely with the SENDCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure every child—especially those with additional needs—is fully supported.
· First Aid & Health: Provide essential care, including administering first aid (training provided) and supporting medical needs.

· Community Spirit: Support your colleagues, students, and volunteers, contributing to a collaborative and positive workplace culture.
· Growth Mindset: Attend staff meetings and multi-agency reviews to stay at the forefront of early years best practices.
