What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to join our Nurture Hub, a key part of the Surrey Locality Nurture Resource Provision (LNRP). This role is perfect for someone passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, enabling them to thrive in a nurturing, inclusive environment. As part of a dedicated team, you will work closely with pupils to remove barriers to learning and provide them with the tools to succeed academically and emotionally. The role involves creating a safe, supportive space for pupils while embedding nurturing approaches, such as trauma-informed and restorative practices. The role will be delivering subjects across the curriculum, with a key focus on literacy skills.

To be successful, you will be willing to work towards the National Nurturing Schools Programme qualification and should demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering a relational approach. This will be fully supported by the school. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on vulnerable children’s lives, helping them re-engage with learning and school life.

This role is part time, 0.5 days, spread over 5 days. It is based at the infant school for pupils up to Year 3. There are currently 5 pupils in the group but this may increase to up to 8. The role started in September 2025 and we are now seeking the right teacher to take the provision forward into the new year.

What the school offers its staff

  • Pupils who are proud of their school.
  • Whole school commitment to raising attainment.
  • A dedicated, longstanding, friendly staff and leadership team who are extremely supportive of each other.
  • The chance to help lead the journey of some of our vulnerable pupils to build their confidence and resilience.
  • The opportunity to be part of the exciting journey that our federated infant and junior schools always find themselves on!

Flexible working opportunities

The role must include daily contact with the pupils for 2.5 hours. It may then include 'outreach' support within their main classroom. PPA time can be taken at school or at home.

The face to face time with the pupils has been in the mornings for the autumn term but this could be redefined for the right candidate.

Further information about the job

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
Visas cannot be sponsored.
If you're interested in teaching or training to teach in England as an international citizen, we can help you understand your next steps.

Commitment to safeguarding

St Jude’s C of E Infant and Junior Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Therefore, it is imperative that you provide all relevant information requested in order to meet this commitment. Criminal Record Bureau clearances and references will be obtained prior to appointment. All appointments will be subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced CRB disclosure, and proof of the Right to Work in the UK (this will be required at the time of interview).
