One to One Tutor - English job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for someone well-qualified in English or related subjects to join us at Outwood Grange Academy to help students secure the best qualifications in English of which they are capable. As a one-to-one tutor, you will work mainly with year 11 students approaching their GCSE examinations, singly or in small groups, to help consolidate their skills or work on identified weaknesses. In this you will be supported by the Head of English and teachers in the department.
Our one-to-one tutors are often qualified teachers, usually in English, who may have had a career break or who are looking for a position with flexibility. One-to-one tutors are employed on a casual basis and hours can be negotiated at interview. We consider each applicant individually on merit and welcome applications from people considering a career in English teaching, graduates in arts and humanities subjects, and others. An ability to support students in studying GCSE English Literature texts would be an advantage.
In return for your dedication to improving the life-chances of our students, we offer training in our highly successful methods of English teaching and, where possible, opportunities to work in other local Outwood academies if desired - as well as the satisfaction of knowing you have had a positive impact on young people’s lives. A number of our one-to-one tutors have gone on to enter or return to the teaching profession with us.
If you think you have the interpersonal and academic skills to make a real difference in our community, we would welcome your application.
