What skills and experience we're looking for
Excel Learning Trust is seeking to appoint skilled and committed tutors to work with students who need additional support to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. We have roles available at both Millthorpe School and York High School; please indicate on your application whether you are applying for a maths or English tutoring role and whether you have a preference for working at a particular school.
Tutoring is proposed to take place with individual students or small groups, during and/or immediately before or after the school day. There will also be an element of remote tutoring for those students who find it difficult to attend school for a number of reasons.
You will have experience of working with students or young people, delivering intervention programmes to individuals or on a small group basis. You will have strong communication and organisational skills, and whilst being a qualified teacher isn’t essential, it would be highly beneficial.
What the school offers its staff
The Trust offers a range of staff benefits, including enrolment in an excellent pension scheme, 24/7 access to an employee assistance programme and a range of family friendly policies.
Commitment to safeguarding
Excel Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are made in accordance with safer recruitment practices and the statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education. Online checks will be carried out on all shortlisted candidates, and all appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and checks regarding suitability to work with children.
