Parent Learning Mentor job summary

Main purpose: To impact on pupil outcomes by improving parents’ / carers’ own skills, giving them confidence to better engage with their child’s learning and progress and partner with the school to narrow the attainment gap of disadvantaged pupils.

The post holder will:

  • provide parental learning experiences, classes and workshops, balancing sensitivity and understanding with the raising of expectations
  • Support parents and pupils to overcome their barriers to learning and fully engage with school learning / homework
  • use a dual approach of a) face-to-face classes, workshops and meetings, and b) building a digital library of 'how to' clips for access from the school website

Candidates will need to have GCSE Level 4 or higher in English and Maths, and be proficient in spoken English, grammar and pronunciation.

Candidates will need to be confident in the creation and provision of online learning resources.
