Parent School Governor job summary

About this role:

Parent School Governor - Volunteer position

Icknield Primary is based in Luton. Our school family is filled with dedicated staff and thoroughly delightful children whose outcomes would be strengthened by welcoming a parent /carer governor who is committed to improving our children’s life chances.

School governance offers a wealth of opportunities to develop and deepen many skills that can be applied across a broad range of arenas, including leadership and management. The opportunity to impact on children’s lives and their successful futures is one of the most rewarding features of school governance!

A time commitment of a minimum of 5 evenings per academic year, alongside time needed to read documentation and train to develop governance skills. For this volunteer commitment, we would offer free training to develop your ability as a governor at Icknield Primary.

This is not an exhaustive list and we would be delighted to discuss the skills set you could bring to our governing body.
