Parent Support Advisor job summary

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is looking to appoint a temporary Parent Support Advisor on a term time only basis, working 21 hours per week.

As a Parent Support Advisor, you will play a key role in strengthening the partnership between home and school, helping families to overcome challenges that may affect their child’s learning, wellbeing, or attendance. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, approachable, and passionate about supporting children and their families.

You will work closely with parents and carers to provide guidance, practical support, and early intervention strategies. Your responsibilities may include offering one-to-one support, signposting to external services, facilitating parenting workshops, and helping families navigate issues such as behaviour, routines, housing, or financial hardship.

Collaboration is central to this role—you’ll liaise with school staff, safeguarding teams, and local agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to pupil support. By building trust and positive relationships, you’ll help create a supportive environment where families feel empowered and pupils are better able to thrive in school.

This is a rewarding and impactful role that requires excellent communication skills, discretion, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of children and their families.
