Part Time Cook - 15 hours a week job summary
Are you a kind, friendly cook who believes food should be warm, nourishing, and made with care?
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable School Cook to prepare daily hot lunches for 45 learners and staff in our specialist alternative provision. This is more than a catering role, it’s a chance to be part of a school where relationships, wellbeing, and learner voice sit at the heart of everything we do.
Your meals will be a valued part of the school day, helping create comfort, routine, and a sense of belonging for young people who thrive in a nurturing environment.
🍴 What you’ll bring
- Experience cooking fresh, healthy meals for groups
- Knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen compliance (Level 3 Food Hygiene or equivalent)
- Ability to plan simple, nutritious menus within budget
- Confidence catering for a range of dietary needs and allergies
- Good organisation and time management in a busy kitchen
- A calm, positive, and caring manner with young people and staff
- Pride in keeping a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
