Part-Time Janitor (20 hours per week) job summary

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a reliable and proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors. You will have a practical approach to site management, with the ability to carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general cleaning to a high standard. A keen eye for health and safety, coupled with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency, is essential. You will be comfortable working independently, managing keys and security responsibilities, while also being approachable and supportive to staff and contractors on site. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to contributing positively to the academy community are key qualities for this role.

Following on from 10 years as a specialist Technology College, de Ferrers became an Academy in January 2011. It has grown into a large, split-site, co-educational institution catering for the full range of students from ages 11 to 18. In 2015, de Ferrers became the first school of Affinity Learning Partnership (a Multi Academy Trust).

Excellent funding has allowed the Academy to enhance resources and equipment and widely promote the use of new technologies. There are digital projectors and flat-screen TVs in all curriculum areas, with over 500 computers and laptops across all sites.

From October 2012, the Academy became the first school in Staffordshire to provide all sixth form students with access to a personal one-to-one iPad for use in lessons and at home. Currently, all students in Years 9 to 13 (Trent and Sixth Form Campuses) have their own iPad, as well as all teaching staff and most support staff.
