Part Time Site Supervisor job summary

St Meryl School is looking for a site manager to take responsibility for opening and closing the school each day and for the maintenance and upkeep of our site. Responsibilities would also include some cleaning. The successful applicant would also be responsible for working with the Head Teacher to ensure that all health and safety requirements are met. In the first instance, this will be a fixed term contract which will be reviewed at the end of the academic year.
This is a part-time role for 15-30 hours per week, 52 weeks of the year, with annual leave entitlement to be taken during the school holidays. A flexibility to work at the weekend on occasion or additional hours and to cover lettings is essential.

This role will be part time hours for 3-6 hours at the end of the school day. There will be a small amount of flexibility in this.

This job would suit an apprentice for up to 6 hours, or a more experienced candidate for fewer hours.

A qualification in a particular trade i.e. plumbing, carpentry etc. would be ideal however, proven experience of general maintenance skills would be desirable. However, we would be willing to consider the right candidate without this background.
The candidate would be expected to attend training courses relevant to the role, i.e. health and safety for caretakers, asbestos training, ladder safety etc.
The following attributes are essential to this post:
- An ability to be flexible, approachable, have good communication skills and able to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the main requirements of health and safety legislation and good practice or a willingness to learn them.
- An understanding and sensitivity to the operational needs of a busy primary school.
- Own transport or based close to the school.
