Actual Annual Salary: £22,258  - £23,746 Based on hours and weeks worked

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £39,649 - £42,301 (CLF Grade F) Based on Full Time hours, All year round

Contract: Permanent, Part Time, Term Time only, 5 insets & 4 weeks - pro rata 

Hours: 22 hours per week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (with some flexibility)

Provisional Start Date: May 2026 pending completion of pre-employment checks

Minerva Primary Academy based in Fishponds, Bristol, are seeking a dedicated Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead to join their team on a permanent basis. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Pastoral & Safeguarding Lead will provide high quality, impartial, solutions focussed pastoral support and guidance to students and their families. They will

act as the main point of contact with lead responsibility within the academy for safeguarding and child protection in line with statutory requirements.

The postholder will enable students to achieve their full potential, raise aspirations and facilitate academic progress. They will be expected to work in partnership with parents to strengthen parental capacity, promote understanding of their child’s needs, improve family relationships and increase parental engagement.

About you:

You will have:

  • A professional qualification in working with young people or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • An understanding of the range of issues that can affect young people, their families, and disadvantaged sections of the community
  • Advanced safeguarding training and child protection training skills
  • Extensive experience of safeguarding with schools and inter-agency working.
  • Ability to plan, organise and lead meetings
  • Proven experience working with young people and their families in education or a related area such as youth, community or health and social work.
