What skills and experience we're looking for

Almond Hill is seeking to appoint a Pastoral Team Leader. The Pastoral Lead will report to the Head Teacher who is the designated lead for child protection.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with and supporting children and families from a wide range of backgrounds with differing needs and have worked to provide pastoral support in the school or home setting.

In additional to delivering specific pastoral support for pupils, the Pastoral Team Leader will manage a small team of teaching assistants and liaise across school staff advocating for the children and supporting staff to meet the pastoral needs of the pupils. They will liaise with parents/carers and take a lead role in the development of therapeutic plans and their implementation. They will support the preparation of paperwork for children with pastoral needs liaising closely with the SENCO. The school follows Therapeutic Thinking and knowledge of this approach would be beneficial.

The Pastoral Lead will support the transition of pupils at the start and end of the school day, working with class teachers and other support staff. It is expected the pastoral lead will undertake further safeguarding training to act as a deputy designated lead for child protection under the direction of the Head Teacher and will undertake the day to day related tasks. They will be expected to attend and contribute to meetings with wider professionals regarding safeguarding and attend meetings relating to child protection

If you have resilience, are flexible and ‘solution focused’, have excellent communication skills, can use your initiative and expect that every child can achieve regardless of their circumstances, we would be really pleased to hear from you.

This is an excellent role for someone who relishes a challenge and wants to be part of a team committed to improving children’s life chances.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss the position further and have a tour around our lovely school and meet staff and pupils.

What the school offers its staff

We are committed to the wellbeing of our children and staff and as such can offer a flexible and supportive working environment. There will be the opportunity to be mentored by the current pastoral lead for half a term and access to all the training and CPD necessary to develop the appropriate knowledge and skills.

Commitment to safeguarding

Almond Hill is committed to the safety and well being of pupils and staff and expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. At Almond Hill Junior School, we want to feel as adults as we aim for our children to feel - adults who feel happy, motivated, confident, safe and listened to.

An offer of employment will be subject to a number of pre-employment checks including verification of identity, Right to Work in the UK, satisfactory written references, online searches, medical clearance and a successful Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
