Pastoral Lead (Grade 7) with Safeguarding Responsibilities (FTE 0.6) job summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pastoral Lead to join our team. This role will have a key focus on:

• Leading on pastoral support for pupils, including behaviour and wellbeing.
• Acting on safeguarding policies and procedures and supporting families by attending social care meetings.
• Supporting children and families through effective liaison with outside agencies.
• Leading interventions to improve pupils welfare and engagement.
• Working closely with parents, offering support and outreach.
• Working closely with senior leaders to promote a safe, positive and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day to day pastoral support across the school.
• Support with safeguarding referrals, records and follow up actions.
• Attending Safeguarding meetings.
• Supporting staff in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance and behaviour.
• Maintain strong relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Lead family support and parent workshops.

Desirable Qualities

• Experience working in schools.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant qualifications in safeguarding, child development, or social care (or willingness to undertake training).
