Pastoral Leader job summary

Our Lady & St. Bede Catholic Academy is looking to appoint a Pastoral Leader (Term time + 3 days) . As a Pastoral Leader you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and behavioural wellbeing of pupils, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives.

You will work closely with pupils, families, and staff to identify and address barriers to learning, offering tailored support and interventions that promote positive behaviour, attendance, and personal development. Your responsibilities may include managing pastoral systems, overseeing pupil welfare plans, coordinating support services, and responding to safeguarding concerns in line with school policy.

Collaboration is key—you’ll liaise with teaching staff, senior leaders, external agencies, and parents to ensure a joined-up approach to pupil wellbeing. You’ll also contribute to the development of a strong pastoral culture across the school, supporting initiatives that build resilience, respect, and a sense of belonging.

This is a rewarding and impactful role that requires excellent communication skills, sound judgement, and a genuine commitment to supporting pupils through both challenges and successes.
