Pastoral Manager job summary

Educated to a high standard of numeracy and literacy with experience of working with young people with additional needs, you will manage the school’s dedicated pastoral team to ensure the welfare of our students.

Reporting to the Headteacher, you will be responsible for advising and supporting staff across the school with strategies to encourage positive behaviour for learning. You will draw on your proven experience of multi-disciplinary working to support you in co-ordinating referrals to social care, health and other relevant agencies to meet the full range of welfare needs of our students.

The Gateway School is a unique educational provision for pupils with additional needs. We have 73 pupils who all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs identified in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). However, they often have a broad range of needs, poor self-esteem and anxieties about school or attachment needs which require a nurturing approach. This new role is an exciting opportunity which will make a significant impact on the outcomes for a challenging and challenged group of young people. Candidates with suitable experience, motivation and commitment are asked to apply for the role.
