Pastoral Manager job summary

We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, dedicated and highly organised Pastoral Support Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting wellbeing, behaviour of our pupils and their families. This role is central to the school’s safeguarding provision and to the promotion of excellent attendance and punctuality, ensuring that pupils are given the best opportunity to succeed.

The successful candidate will support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and work to remove barriers to learning through effective collaboration with families, staff and external agencies.

We are looking for a Senior Learning Mentor who:

Become a designated safeguarding lead.

Manage effective communication with all staff, children and families regarding identified pupils.

To be familiar with and apply Birmingham’s Support First Attendance Framework.

Manage the school’s ‘Early Help’ intervention programme in regards to attendance and pupil wellbeing including writing to and meeting with parents when there are areas of concern.

To be the focal point of contact between various agencies where a multiple agency approach is required

Holding daily drop-in sessions for pupils, offering and providing support and/or counselling to individual children and groups of children as and when the need arises.

Managing and leading a team of learning mentors and will support the senior leadership team.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with families and external agencies to support young people and developing relevant interventions.

The role will require considerable skills in liaising sensitively with parents/carers, pupils, teachers, and other external agencies, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships a key to the success of the role.

A caring and compassionate nature, the ability to be resilient and calm under pressure are essential.
