Pastoral Officer job summary

Working closely with the other members of the Pastoral Team, the post holder provides day-to-day pastoral care, guidance and support for students during their formative years at secondary school.

Key responsibilities of the role including:-

  • Monitor wellbeing and providing targeted support for students
  • Deliver individual and small group interventions to address emotional, social and behavioural needs
  • Communicate regularly with parents/carers, staff and students to ensure a collaborative approach to support
  • Undertake relevant safeguarding training and act as a member of the safeguarding team, responding to concerns under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and senior members of the team
  • Monitor behaviour incidents and support with investigations as requested
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience and respectful relationships in line with the Academy’s values
  • Promote inclusivity and ensure all students feel valued and safe in school life

The successful candidate will have:-

  • The ability to communicate with students and colleagues effectively
  • Contribute to the provision of an effective learning environment for all students
  • Have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 5 (C) and above
  • Be conscientious with excellent attention to detail
  • Be able to motivate students through a commitment to equal opportunities, regardless of background, SEND or prior attainment
  • Be able to work as part of a team.

Previous experience of working with young people in a similar role will be an advantage.
