Cherry Tree Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Care Team Member to join our supportive school community. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children.

As part of our Pastoral Care Team, you will:

  • Support pupils with social and emotional needs, helping them to feel safe, included, and engaged in learning.
  • Provide individual or small group interventions to promote emotional wellbeing and resilience, especially with Service Pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to build positive relationships and encourage inclusion.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to staff as needed.
  • Promote positive behaviour, supporting children to take responsibility for their actions.
  • Assist with supervision during school activities, including trips and visits.

About You

We are looking for someone who is caring, approachable and passionate about supporting children.

Essential:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience working with or caring for children of primary school age.
  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to prioritise, adapt, and work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant, SEND TA, or counselling/family support experience).
  • First Aid training.
  • Knowledge of child development, attachment difficulties, ASD, ADHD.
  • Experience with pastoral and welfare support.
  • Understanding of military family life.
