- Grade C £23,115 - £24,140 fte per annum / £19,868 to £20,749 (based on 36.25 hours per week) per annum pro rata
What skills and experience we're looking for
Hounsdown School is seeking to appoint a Pastoral Support Worker to add to the capacity within an excellent team of Year leaders. This non-teaching role would suit applicants with a passion for supporting young people as they navigate their educational journey and plan for their Post-16 pathways.
The successful applicant will need to embrace the Hounsdown School values of “Be the best that you can be” and “Have a mind to be kind” and will promote these values with the young people they work with. They will be a trusted adult who is able to communicate effectively and build meaningful working relationships with young people, their families and a range of outside agencies.
Candidates will need good communication skills and the ability to clarify and explain instructions clearly and a firm but non-confrontational approach towards discipline is essential. Experience of working with young people is desirable, although full training will be provided. Applicants need to have a good general education and be educated to GCSE level C or equivalent in Maths and English. Graduates looking for future teaching careers will be considered.
The responsibilities of the Pastoral Support Worker will include:
- Working with the Year Leaders and a range of pastoral support staff to ensure all our students receive relevant, appropriate and focused support.
- Leadership of the School Council to provide opportunity for student leadership to shape developments within the school.
- Leadership of student voice groups to inform the evaluation of a range of aspects of School development.
- To be an essential point of communication for parents/carers.
- Collation and communication of the rewards system and behaviour reports.
