As a Pastoral Worker in our school, you will have a passion for every child’s learning and believe in enabling an inclusive environment for the benefit of all children. Joining our friendly and supportive team, you will be responsible for working in partnership with colleagues to identify and address the individual needs of the pupils. You will provide practical advice and support to the pupils and their families on an individual basis, particularly in respect of planning and resources, where necessary, providing emotional support and encouragement to enable pupils to achieve to the very best of their ability. You may be involved in ND profiling or Family Support Plans, working in partnership with Children’s Services or MABS to secure a team around a child.

This post involves working with and liaison with outside child protection agencies to ensure effective safeguarding practice. You will be committed to both the school’s and the Academy Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policies and will ensure compliance with the School’s Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work.

What the school offers its staff

At Court Lane Infant School, our values of Believe, Inspire, Achieve are at the heart of everything we do. We create a warm, nurturing environment where our youngest learners feel safe, happy, and excited to explore the world around them. Our aim is to help every child grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence, laying strong foundations for their future learning.

Our dedicated staff work closely with families to ensure each child’s individual needs are met, both academically and personally. Through a rich and engaging curriculum, we encourage children to ask questions, solve problems, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

We work in close partnership with Court Lane Junior School, following a‘ One Community, Two Schools’ approach. This ensures a smooth and supportive transition as children move through their educational journey, building on shared values and learning experiences.

Parents and carers are an important part of our school community. We offer many opportunities to get involved, from celebrating children’s achievements to joining workshops and regular consultations with teachers.

Court Lane Infant School is part of the University of Chichester Multi Academy Trust, and we are proud to be part of a wider family of schools that share our commitment to excellence and care.

The University of Chichester Academy Trust

You will be part of The University of Chichester Academy Trust, which is uniquely positioned to make a difference in the local educational landscape. The Trust currently encompasses 17 academies, 2 Inclusion centres, and a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training base, all based in Hampshire, Portsmouth, and West Sussex. While we share a common vision and values, each academy has its own identity that contributes to its local community. The Trust is committed to valuing the uniqueness of each school.

Two-Week October Half Term

We have introduced a two-week October half-term across all our schools. This initiative is already making a positive impact, giving staff and pupils a valuable break during the long autumn term, reducing absence through illness, and supporting overall well-being. It also brings greater consistency across our Trust, creating a more connected and efficient way of working. It’s just one example of how we prioritise our people and create a working environment where everyone can thrive.
