Payroll Officer job summary

Central Learning Partnership Trust is seeking to appoint a Payroll Officer to join our central payroll team to assist processing all aspects of the monthly payrolls for the 16 schools in the trust.

Central Learning Partnership Trust is a multi-Academy Trust employing 1,200 people across 16 schools in England that are all Ofsted rated either good or outstanding. The role of Payroll Officer is to assist the Payroll Manager in all aspects of processing the monthly internal payroll based at Coppice School, which is a secondary school in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton.

Responsibilities

General payroll and pension administration duties.

Assist in all reporting duties to various pension schemes and government agencies.

Cover for Payroll Manager holidays and absences.


Candidate Qualities

Essential

An understanding of payroll legislation and calculations including PAYE, SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP etc. National insurance, Student & Postgraduate loans, apprentice levy, pension schemes and pension national auto enrolment regulations.

Experience of working in payroll administration.

Be IT proficient with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office programmes.

Desirable

Experience and/or knowledge in education specific payroll processing, including pay scales and payments, term time calculations, education specific sick and maternity pay rules and calculations, Teachers’ and Local Government Pension Scheme reporting requirements.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft excel and word, including Vlookups, tables, mail merging etc.

Knowledge and experience of statutory reporting requirements such as office of national statistics, gender pay gap, apprentice targets, trade union facility time.

Experience of using Civica Payroll system (previously Carval payroll).
