At Ormiston Queensmill and Ormiston Kensington Queensmill Academies we are seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Payroll Officer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work across both sites to manage and deliver our payroll function with accuracy, efficiency and care.
As Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time, whilst maintaining compliance with government regulations and school policies. You will be a trusted point of contact for payroll queries, a key player in audits, and a critical part of keeping our schools running smoothly behind the scenes.
We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines, confidential and discreet with sensitive information, an excellent communicator and team player, as well as a solution-focused individual who is responsive to changing needs.
The successful candidate will have:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
- Proven experience processing payroll in a multi-employee environment.
- Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation, taxation and pensions.
- Excellent numeracy, attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Experience with payroll software systems and liaising with external providers.
Desirable:
- Payroll or finance-related qualifications (e.g. CIPP, AAT).
- Previous experience in education or public sector settings.

Queensmill School is a long-established specialist school for children and young people diagnosed with autism. Located in purpose-built facilities, the school has been adjudged Good by Ofsted in the most recent inspection in February (2023). The school converted to Academy Status on June 1st 2021, joining the Queensmill Multi-Academy trust.
